Job summary

Chandler Macleod is seeking experienced MIG/GMAW Welders who are keen to advance into robotic/3D welding. This permanent full-time role supports production for defence, maritime and aerospace systems, with modern facilities and structured training paths.

You will work with robotic welding cells, monitor weld quality, and maintain QA documentation to high standards. A Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering (Fabrication) or equivalent is preferred, with Australian citizenship as a requirement.

Qualifications

• MIG/GMAW welding background required with strong quality focus.
• Ability to learn robotic welding and work with welding cells.
• Must be able to read engineering drawings and follow procedures.
• Proficient in production/QA documentation and trend reporting.

Responsibilities

• Support start-up, run, and shut-down of robotic GMAW welding cells.
• Monitor weld quality and complete QA documentation to standard.
• Adhere to WPS and adjust key variables as allowed by procedure.
• Maintain safety, quality, and accuracy in documentation.

Chandler Macleod is seeking experienced MIG/GMAW Welders who are keen to step into the next phase of their career and learn robotic / 3D welding. This is a permanent full-time opportunity with a manufacturer producing high-strength metal components for the defence, maritime and aerospace industries.

About the role

You’ll work with robotic GMAW welding cells—supporting start-up, running and shut-down, monitoring weld quality, and completing documentation to a high QA standard.

What you’ll need (essential)

• Strong MIG/GMAW welding background
• A positive attitude and genuine willingness to learn robotic welding
• Ability to read engineering drawings / work packs and follow quality procedures
• Comfortable using computers for production / QA documentation
• Understanding of WPS and ability to adjust key variables (within procedure)
• Strong focus on safety, quality and attention to detail
• Experience in quality / process control OR leadership exposure (documentation-focused)
• Australian citizenship

Qualification preferred: Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering (Fabrication stream) or equivalent trade background.

Desirable (nice to have)

• Exposure to robot interfaces (offline programming experience highly regarded)
• Fabrication experience related to robotic equipment / automation
• AutoCAD experience
