Job summary

Glencore Australia in Mount Isa, Queensland, is seeking a Roads & Waste Operator Leading Hand. Reporting to the Supervisor Roads & Waste, this residential role supports road and landfill operations on a 5/2 day shift roster, based at Mount Isa.

You will assist with maintaining sealed and haul roads, manage site waste and scrap disposal, and uphold safety standards across the mine site. A background in heavy industry and relevant licences are preferred, with strong teamwork and reliability valued.

Qualifications

Mount Isa Mines are currently advertising a vacancy that exists for the position of Roads & Waste Operator Leading Hand. Reporting to the Supervisor Roads & Waste, this position is residentially based in Mount Isa. The working roster for this position is 5/2 day shift only.

You will be responsible for:

• Assisting the supervisor and crew with maintaining the sealed roads, haul roads, signage, road & rail infrastructure across MIM lease
• Other areas include the MIM landfill, site waste collection and scrap steel disposal across the mine site
• Proactive and strong commitment to safety

The successful candidate will possess:

• Previous heavy industry experience would be an advantage
• Preferred experience in the use of heavy mobile equipment
• S1, S2, S3 essential
• HR truck license and forklift ticket would also be an advantage
• Sound knowledge of Microsoft software
• Valid manual driver’s license
• Flexible attitude and sound work ethic
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to achieve results within the specified time frames
• Coordinating personnel (including contractors) and equipment required to fulfil the role, crew safety adherence as per site standards and procedures,
• Knowledge of best practice road maintenance and waste management would be highly advantageous
• Strong customer service along with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work well within a team environment or with minimal supervision
