Job summary

Hinchinbrook Shire Council is seeking a Works Team Leader to guide skilled crews delivering road maintenance, civil works and infrastructure across the Shire. You will plan, coordinate, and supervise works, and collaborate with DTMR and Council teams to keep projects safe, on schedule, and to high standards.

You’ll lead direct reports, manage resources, monitor progress and costs, and ensure compliance with safety and policy requirements.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Civil Construction – Plant Operations.
• White Card – General Safety Induction.
• Demonstrated experience leading and supervising civil construction, road maintenance or operational work crews.
• Experience in contract administration, project costings and monitoring expenditure.
• Strong planning, communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to interpret and work within relevant policies, procedures, contracts and legislative requirements.
• Current Queensland C Class Driver Licence (minimum P1).
• Desirable: Certificate IV in Civil Construction (Supervision).
• Desirable: Experience with RMPC contracts.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise direct reports by allocating work, monitoring performance, providing regular feedback, coaching and mentoring employees, identifying training needs, and contributing to performance and development processes to achieve operational objectives and service standards.
• Liaise with DTMR officers to foster a positive working relationship between the DTMR and Council.
• Monitor project progress, expenditure, quality and resource utilisation, implementing corrective actions as required to achieve approved project scope, budget and quality standards.
• Provide technical advice and support regarding road construction, maintenance and infrastructure activities.
