Job summary

Gunnedah Shire Council invites applications for a full-time Team Leader in the Construction team within the Roads/Works Division. You will supervise staff and operate plant to maintain Council’s road network, contributing to a safe, efficient service for the community.

The role requires a WHS Construction Induction Certificate (White Card) and a current Driver’s Licence, with leadership experience and a willingness to undertake professional development. A rewarding rural lifestyle awaits.

Qualifications

• Hold or obtain WHS Construction Induction Certificate (White Card) and hold a current Driver's Licence.
• Experience in Team Leadership and managing staff is highly desirable.
• Diploma level qualification or willingness to undertake professional development, or 3-5 years in a relevant field.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Construction and maintenance practices for Council’s road network.
• Supervise, motivate and guide directly reporting staff.
• Operate and maintain assigned plant safely and effectively.
• Ensure compliance with Council’s WHS policies and regulations.
• Perform general road construction and maintenance works using appropriate plant and tools.
• Quality check work and remediate defects.
• Maintain accurate records in the Council’s records management system.
• Collaborate with other team members to complete programs on time and to standard.
• Apply WHS and risk management systems in line with policies.
• Complete administrative tasks as required.
• Maintain required qualifications and undertake training to meet skill level.
• Participate in on-call duties as required.
