Job summary

Kyogle Memorial Hospital in Kyogle, NSW, is seeking an experienced Senior Registered Nurse to join the Emergency Department and Multipurpose Service (MPS) team. This contract role runs from as soon as possible through to 17 January 2027, offering leadership in a fast-paced, multi-faceted clinical environment.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong emergency nursing expertise, lead a small team, and mentor junior staff while providing comprehensive acute care and general medical support

Qualifications

• Emergency department experience with triage and patient prioritisation.
• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse and advanced practice in emergency nursing preferred.
• Post-graduate credentials or demonstrated advanced practice in emergency/critical care nursing.

Responsibilities

• Lead triage and clinical decision-making in a fast-paced emergency and multipurpose setting.
• Contract role running from asap through 17 January 2027 with leadership responsibilities.
• Mentor junior nursing staff and support a regional ED and general medical service.

Job description

Our client, Kyogle Memorial Hospital, is seeking an experienced Senior Registered Nurse to join the Emergency Department and Multipurpose Service (MPS) team in Kyogle, NSW. This is a contract position running from as soon as possible through to 17 January 2027. The successful candidate will bring strong emergency nursing expertise and the ability to lead a busy, multi-faceted clinical environment where acute care and general medical support go hand in hand.

• Lead triage and clinical decision-making in a fast-paced emergency and multipurpose setting
• Contract role with flexibility to start immediately, running through January 2027
• Opportunity to work in charge and mentor junior nursing staff in a regional healthcare setting

Preferred Requirements

• Demonstrated experience working in an emergency department environment
• Proven competence in triage assessment and patient prioritisation
• Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification
• Ability to work in a charge nurse capacity and lead a small team
• Strong clinical communication and the capacity to work across both emergency and general medical presentations

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent, with current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
• Post-graduate qualification or demonstrated advanced practice in emergency nursing
• Additional certifications in emergency or critical care nursing (e.g. TNCC, PALS) are advantageous
