Job summary

Gloucester Soldiers' Memorial Hospital in Gloucester, NSW is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join its Emergency Department on a contract basis, starting 16 November 2026. This role offers full-time hours in a close-knit, rural ED setting with 3 emergency beds and 14 inpatient beds.

The successful candidate will join a small, collaborative team, with access to on-site shared nursing accommodation featuring private ensuites and flexible rosters to suit a rural healthcare environment.

Qualifications

• Current triage competency certificate and recent emergency department experience.
• Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.
• Demonstrated in-charge experience in an emergency setting.
• Access to a car and willingness to drive to the Gloucester, NSW site.
• Flexibility to work across any site and adapt to a rural healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide ED nursing care in a rural hospital with 3 emergency beds and 14 inpatient beds.
• Collaborate with medical officers and My ED Doctor coverage in a small team.
• Participate in flexible rosters and support a varied rural ED schedule.
• Ensure patient comfort and safety while coordinating care across sites.

• Work in a supportive rural ED environment with combined medical officer and My ED Doctor coverage
• Minimum 4 weeks commitment, with 8-12 weeks preferred; flexible roster arrangements available
• On-site shared accommodation provided, with private ensuite and shared kitchen and lounge facilities

Preferred Requirements

• Current triage competency certificate and recent emergency department experience
• Current Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification
• Demonstrated in-charge experience in an emergency setting
• Access to a car and willingness to drive to the Gloucester, NSW site
• Flexibility to work across any site and adapt to a rural healthcare environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse, with classification at MM5-7
• Post-graduate qualification or demonstrated expertise in emergency nursing
• Experience working in rural or remote healthcare settings is advantageous
