Job summary

Dysart Hospital in Queensland's mining region is seeking experienced Registered Nurses for its Emergency Department and Inpatient Ward on an 11-week contract (2 November 2026 to 17 January 2027). You will join a 24-hour Emergency Department with rotating 8- and 12-hour shifts and a steady outpatient flow to serve Dysart and nearby communities.

Qualifications

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Grade 5 rural and emergency department experience.

• Own vehicle highly recommended due to the remote location.

Job description

Dysart Hospital, a 9-bed rural facility in Queensland's mining region, is seeking experienced Registered Nurses for its Emergency Department and Inpatient Ward. This is an 11-week contract role (2 November 2026 to 17 January 2027) offering the chance to work in a dynamic, close-knit team serving Dysart and surrounding communities. You'll be part of a 24-hour Emergency Department with steady outpatient flow, working rotating 8- and 12-hour shifts on a roster of up to 80 hours per fortnight.

Preferred Requirements

• Grade 5 Registered Nurse with demonstrated rural nursing and emergency department experience

• Ability to team lead and manage the ward effectively during shifts
• Own vehicle highly recommended due to the remote location

Preferred Qualifications

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
• Experience with Queensland Health electronic medical records (ieMR), FirstNet, PowerChart, or HBCIS systems
• Previous experience with Australian Health services, Queensland Health, or Mackay Hospital and Health Service
