Job summary

NTP Talent is seeking an experienced Linux Platform Engineer to join their UNIX Platform team in Australia. You will administer and automate a 300-server Red Hat Linux estate, focus on Ansible-based patching, security hardening and ongoing operational support across 15 business units.

Ideal candidates bring 8+ years of enterprise Linux experience, strong scripting, and familiarity with ITIL processes. The role is hands-on, collaborative, and offers hybrid work with on-site Macquarie Park duties.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of experience supporting Red Hat Linux in large enterprise environments
• Hands-on experience with Ansible
• Strong understanding of Linux internals, performance tuning and security hardening
• Scripting skills in Bash, Python or Shell
• Experience with VMware vSphere, enterprise storage, backup and disaster recovery
• Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, LDAP and authentication services
• Experience in ITIL-aligned environments using ServiceNow/Jira Service Management
• Experience in 24x7 mission-critical infrastructure; AWS experience is highly regarded
• Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code
• Monitoring and observability platforms such as Dynatrace, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK; RHCSA/RHCE or ITIL Foundation certification
• Experience in healthcare or other regulated environments

Responsibilities

• Administer and support an enterprise Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) estate, with some Ubuntu, across on-premises, virtualised and cloud environments
• Deliver monthly automated patching through Ansible and maintain a 95% patching SLA
• Manage operating system lifecycle activities including provisioning, upgrades, vulnerability remediation and decommissioning
• Troubleshoot complex OS, storage, networking and application-related issues
• Partner with Cyber Security to implement hardening, compliance and vulnerability management
• Support high availability, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions
• Work within ITIL incident, problem, change and major incident management processes
• Collaborate with stakeholders across multiple business units
• Maintain technical documentation, standards and procedures
• Participate in rotating on-call roster (one week in every 5 to 6)
