Job summary

Profectus is seeking an experienced Linux Engineer to support Australian Government networks, building and hardening RHEL and other Linux platforms in secured environments. You will automate builds with Ansible and Satellite, manage patching, and assist with security assessments.

The role covers Onsite work with potential travel, requires five years in enterprise Linux, RHCSA/RHCE, and experience with OpenShift/Kubernetes and IdM in classified networks.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years as Linux Engineer or Linux System Administrator in enterprise environments.
• Hardening Linux systems to ISM or equivalent security standards.
• Configuration management using Ansible or similar.
• Bash and Python scripting.
• Patching and vulnerability remediation.
• Working on Defence or other classified networks.
• RHCSA/RHCE certification.
• OpenShift or Kubernetes.
• Red Hat Satellite and IdM.
• Monitoring and logging tools such as Splunk or Elastic.
• ITIL Foundation.

Responsibilities

• Build, configure and maintain RHEL and other Linux servers in classified and unclassified environments.
• Harden Linux systems against the ISM, Essential Eight and ASD hardening guidance.
• Automate builds, configuration and patching using Ansible, Red Hat Satellite or similar.
• Manage patching, vulnerability remediation and operating system upgrades.
• Support virtualization and container platforms such as VMware, KVM and OpenShift.
• Troubleshoot and resolve incidents and problems on Linux platforms.
• Provide evidence and technical input for system security assessments and accreditation.
• Write and maintain Bash and Python scripts.
• Work within ITIL change, incident and problem management processes.
• Document builds, configurations and standard operating procedures.
