Nexigen Digital in Melbourne is seeking a Linux Infrastructure Engineer to manage servers, networks and hardware that keep hundreds of thousands of Australian websites online. We’re looking for someone who loves Linux, takes pride in a well‑built and well‑secured server, is proactive, goal oriented and possesses excellent problem solving skills.

From racking hardware in our data centres to automating fleets of servers with Ansible, no two days are the same.

Qualifications

• Three or more years’ Linux production experience in a real environment.
• Experience with Ansible automation and desire to automate repetitive tasks.
• Hands-on with hypervisors and VM management.
• Comfort with physical server and data centre hardware.
• Administered cPanel/WHM hosting environments.
• Knowledge of Apache, LiteSpeed, Nginx and/or Caddy, and diagnosing web server issues.
• Experience with containerised applications.
• Understanding of networking and firewalls.
• Scripting in Bash and Python.
• Strong security hardening knowledge and calm under pressure.
• Willingness to be on‑call and share knowledge with the team.

Responsibilities

• Administer Linux servers (RHEL/AlmaLinux) in production.
• Manage deployments at scale with Ansible.
• Oversee hypervisors and virtual machines.
• Maintain data centre hardware and replacements.
• Keep cPanel/WHM hosting servers fast, stable and secure.
• Tune web servers including Apache, LiteSpeed, Nginx or Caddy.
• Maintain MariaDB/Galera clusters with health checks and backups.
• Manage containerised environments.
• Configure and troubleshoot networks and firewalls.
• Run and maintain email servers.
• Write Bash and Python scripts to automate tasks.
• Participate in on-call rotations and incident response.
