Job summary

Prospera Investments Pty Ltd in Oakleigh, Melbourne is seeking an experienced Retail Manager to lead the daily operations of our busy fish and chip shop.

The role requires strong leadership, hands-on management, and a focus on customer service, with responsibility for staffing, training, stock control, and compliance.

You will drive sales through pricing, promotions and local marketing while maintaining high food safety standards and a welcoming dining environment.

Qualifications

• Diploma or higher qualification in Hospitality Management, Retail Management, Business, or related field.
• At least 3 years of relevant full-time work experience in a similar role.
• Experience in a fish and chip shop or fast-paced food retail preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment.
• Availability to work late nights, weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Manage overall daily operations to ensure efficient service.
• Supervise, train, roster, and performance manage staff.
• Maintain high standards of customer service and comply with policies.
• Monitor food preparation for quality and portion control.
• Manage stock ordering, inventory, supplier relationships and rotation.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, WHS, and sanitation regulations.
• Handle customer enquiries, complaints, and feedback.
• Monitor sales, prepare daily takings reports, and assist budgeting.
• Implement pricing, promotions, and local marketing.
• Oversee opening/closing, cash handling, reconciliation and security.
• Process weekly payroll and superannuation payments.
• Manage supplier payments and maintain financial records.
• Monitor staffing levels and labour costs.
• Coordinate equipment maintenance.
• Ensure cleanliness/presentation of shop, kitchen, dining areas.
• Assist with recruitment and staff development.
