Job summary

Casuarina Square in Darwin, managed by Sentinel Property Group, seeks a Retail Manager to drive retailer performance, financial outcomes and centre operations in a fast-paced retail environment.

Reporting to the Centre Manager, you will lead a senior management team, manage key retailers, prepare financial reports, and lead customer-facing capital projects to ensure the Centre performs and trades at the highest standard every day.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in Centre Management or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of the retail industry and sector.
• Solid financial acumen with budgets, forecasting and reporting.
• Proven leadership, mentoring and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including presentation skills.
• Exceptional organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency in core Microsoft Office applications.
• In-depth knowledge of Retail Leases Act.
• Experience managing critical retailers, debt and lease administration.
• Tertiary qualifications in Business, Property or related discipline.
• Experience leading customer-facing capital works or tenancy delivery projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage critical retailers, debt, lease administration, abatements and exit/assistance strategies.
• Drive retail outcomes and KPIs in line with the Business Plan.
• Prepare and maintain key centre and financial reports (sales forecasts, turnover rent, debt, monthly management reporting).
• Contribute to the operational leasing process and retailer reviews.
• Lead customer-facing capital works and tenancy delivery projects.
• Build strong relationships with key retailers to stay ahead of market conditions.
• Oversee presentation and maintenance standards via daily inspections and centre walks.
• Manage the Customer Service team and support Marketing and broader teams.
• Contribute to community engagement initiatives and represent the Centre as needed.

What we're looking for

You're commercially minded and operationally sharp with the ability to balance big-picture strategy and attention to detail. You're equally comfortable interpreting a financial report, negotiating with a retailer, and walking the centre floor. Just as importantly, you know how to build the retailer relationships that make a centre thrive.

What would your day-to-day look like?

Reporting to the Centre Manager, you'll be a senior member of the management team responsible for the ongoing management of Centre retailers and key financial outcomes.

You'll manage critical retailers, drive the Centre's Business Plan and Retail KPIs, prepare key financial and centre reports, and take a lead role in customer-facing capital projects ensuring the Centre performs, presents and trades to the highest standard every day.

What you'll be doing

• Managing critical retailers, including debt, lease administration, abatements and exit or assistance strategies
• Driving retail outcomes and KPIs in line with the agreed Business Plan
• Preparing and maintaining key centre and financial reports — sales forecasts, turnover rent, debt and monthly management reporting
• Contributing to the operational leasing process and driving critical retailer reviews
• Taking a lead role in customer-facing capital works and tenancy delivery projects
• Building strong relationships with key retailers to stay ahead of market conditions and trends
• Overseeing presentation and maintenance standards through daily inspections and centre walks
• Managing the Customer Service team and supporting the broader team, including Marketing
• Contributing to community engagement initiatives and representing the Centre where required

Are you someone with?

• Minimum 5 years' experience in Centre Management, ideally as a Retail Manager, Operations Manager, or Centre Manager of a smaller asset
• A strong understanding of the retail industry and sector
• Solid financial acumen and confidence with budgets, forecasting and reporting
• Proven leadership, mentoring and stakeholder management skills
• Strong written and verbal communication, including confident presentation skills
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Proficiency in core Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
• In-depth knowledge of the Retail Leases Act
• Experience managing critical retailers, debt and lease administration
• Tertiary qualifications in Business, Property or a related discipline
• Experience leading customer-facing capital works or tenancy delivery projects
