Job summary

Booral Service Centre on Booral Road is seeking a Retail Manager to run the store, decide stock and pricing, and lead the team. Report to the Director and be accountable for sales, margin, stock and staffing, while serving customers on the floor.

The role covers purchasing, supplier negotiations, fuel stock management, budget reporting and rostering across seven days, with hands-on store duties and customer service at the counter.

Qualifications

• At least two years of retail management experience, or a Diploma or higher qualification in retail or business.
• Experience managing stock, ordering, pricing and staff, not only shift supervision.
• Confidence reading sales and margin reports and acting on them.
• Experience recruiting, rostering and training a team across extended trading hours.
• Sound point of sale, stock system and Microsoft Office skills.
• Willingness to work a rotating roster that includes early starts, weekends and public holidays.
• Full working rights in Australia and a current driver licence.
• Service station, convenience or grocery experience is an advantage; RSA or tobacco compliance training can be arranged.

Responsibilities

• Deciding the product range, stock levels and service standards across grocery, drinks, food service, automotive and general convenience lines.
• Ordering stock, negotiating with suppliers and distributors, and setting retail prices and margins.
• Managing fuel stock, deliveries, dips and reconciliation, and monitoring fuel pricing against the local market.
• Planning promotions and seasonal ranging, including holiday and long weekend traffic on the Bucketts Way.
• Serving customers, operating the point of sale and handling customer issues.
• Keeping accurate stock and sales records, running stocktakes, and managing shrinkage, waste and markdowns.
• Preparing store budgets and reporting sales, margin and stock performance to the Director.
• Recruiting, rostering, inducting, training and supervising store staff across a seven day trading week.
• Handling cash, banking and end of day reconciliation.
• Meeting work health and safety, food safety, tobacco and fuel handling obligations, and consumer law obligations.

Booral Service Centre is the service station and convenience store on Booral Road, on the Bucketts Way between Stroud and Gloucester. We sell fuel, groceries, drinks, hot and cold food, ice, gas and general convenience lines, and we run an ATM on site. We trade seven days, from 6:00am to 6:30pm on weekdays and slightly shorter hours on weekends. For a lot of people on this road we are the only stop for thirty kilometres in either direction, so what we carry and how we look after people matters.

The role

We are looking for a Retail Manager to run the store. You will decide what we stock and what we charge for it, deal with suppliers and fuel distributors, manage the roster across a seven day trading week, and lead the team on the floor. You will report to the company Director and be accountable for the store's sales, margin, stock and staffing. This is a hands-on job as well as a management one. In a store this size the manager serves customers and works the counter alongside the team.

What we are looking for

What we offer

• A salary of $80,000 per annum plus superannuation.
• A permanent full time position of 38 hours per week, worked on a rotating roster.
