Job summary

Mittagong Garden Centre is seeking an experienced horticulturist or qualified nursery professional with a passion for plants, customer service and retail presentation.

The role combines strong horticultural knowledge with retail garden centre experience, ensuring plants are healthy, beautifully presented and ready for sale. You will advise customers, help create displays and support stock, pricing and front-counter operations.

Qualifications

• Horticultural qualifications or equivalent practical experience.
• Retail garden centre or nursery experience strongly preferred.
• Excellent plant knowledge and understanding of retail plant presentation.

• Water, prune, deadhead, fertilise, repot and care for plants appropriately.

• Operate the POS system and assist at the front counter.
• Maintain a clean, organised and welcoming garden centre.

About You

• Horticultural qualifications or equivalent practical experience.

• Previous retail garden centre or retail nursery experience strongly preferred.

• Excellent plant knowledge and an understanding of retail plant presentation.

• Confident providing customer advice and actively selling plants and garden products.

• Physically capable of lifting and moving pots, plants and bags using safe handling practices.

• Reliable, proactive, friendly and able to work independently.

Hours

Casual shifts across weekdays and weekends, potentially including full opening-to-closing shifts.

Sunday availability is highly desirable, and regular weekend availability is essential.
