Job summary

Metcash is Australia’s leading wholesale distributor of grocery, liquor and hardware, backing independent retailers to compete and thrive. This Commercial Manager role focuses on shaping the WA Food business, driving profitable growth and strengthening retailer partnerships.

You'll work with the State Leadership team to translate commercial strategy into practical deals, budgets and performance improvements while collaborating with Property, Finance and Supply Chain to unlock opportunities.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial acumen and a proven track record of delivering revenue growth, profitability and business improvement.
• Experience in commercial retail, commercial property, revenue growth management or related discipline.
• Solid understanding of retail economics, P&L performance, commercial models and deal structuring.
• Confidence negotiating commercial agreements and influencing retailers and senior stakeholders.
• Ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and make sound decisions in fast-paced environments.
• Results-driven and collaborative, with a genuine interest in helping independent businesses succeed.

Responsibilities

• Drive profitable growth: identify opportunities to grow revenue, improve margins and strengthen performance of wholesale and independent network.
• Make the deals count: structure and negotiate commercial agreements, rebates and retailer arrangements.
• Bring a retail lens: understand P&L, assess commercial models and evaluate opportunities to support growth.
• Challenge the thinking: convert data into clear recommendations and influence decisions.
• Shape strategy and performance: partner on business planning, budgets, forecasting and governance.
• Build partnerships: work with Retail, Property, Finance, Supply Chain and other teams to implement strategy.
