Job description

We are seeking a Retail Bakery Assistant to join the team at Rainforest Bakery in Everton Hills, QLD. This is a casual position offering flexibility and the opportunity to be part of a dynamic retail environment. As a Retail Bakery Assistant, you will play a key role in delivering excellent customer service whilst supporting the daily operations of our bakery. You will be working on a casual basis, whilst contributing to the success of our business.

What you'll be doing

Serving customers with a friendly and professional manner, taking orders and processing payments

Handling and displaying fresh bakery products in an appealing and hygienic manner

Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the retail space, including shelves, counters and display areas

Assisting with stock rotation and inventory management

Operating the till system accurately and handling cash transactions

Supporting the preparation of bakery items for sale, including packaging and labelling

Responding to customer enquiries and providing product information

Following food safety and hygiene standards at all times

Contributing to a positive team environment and supporting colleagues during busy periods

What we're looking for

Previous retail or customer service experience is preffered, though we welcome applications from those new to the industry with a willingness to learn

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively with customers

A friendly, approachable demeanour and genuine passion for customer service

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, particularly during peak trading hours

Physical capability to stand for extended periods and handle products safely

Reliable and punctual with a professional attitude

Basic numeracy skills for till operations and cash handling

Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, afternoons and potentially weekends

Food safety awareness and commitment to maintaining hygiene standards
