Job summary

Hardware & General is seeking an Assistant Manager in Hornsby to drive daily operations, support staff, and ensure outstanding customer service. You’ll lead by example, oversee stock and processes, and step in when the Site Manager is away.

We value hands-on leaders with retail or hardware industry experience who can keep a busy site running smoothly and maintain safety standards and presentation.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in retail, trade, hardware or a similar customer-focused environment.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to motivate and support a team.
• Strong customer service, communication and sales skills.
• Good organisational skills and an understanding of stock management.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the team to deliver excellent customer service and meet sales targets.
• Assist customers with product advice and suitable solutions.
• Manage stock levels, ordering, receipting and stocktakes.
• Coordinate picking, packing, loading and distribution.
• Process quotes, sales orders, returns and payments accurately.
• Support rostering, site operations and team workload planning.
• Maintain site presentation, housekeeping and workplace health and safety.
• Assist with opening/closing, cash handling and banking as required.
• Support the Site Manager and oversee daily operations in their absence.
