Job summary

First Caring Australia Pty Ltd is seeking a dedicated Residential Care Officer to join our Footscray-based team on a permanent full-time basis. You will provide day-to-day care and supervision for participants in the residence, support daily living activities, and help participants work toward their NDIS goals.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV in Disability, Community Services, or equivalent.
• Experience in a residential or SIL environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of NDIS Practice Standards and Person-Centred Active Support.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day care and supervision of participants within the residence.
• Support participants with daily living activities, including personal care, meal prep, transport, and medication support.
• Encourage participants to engage in community, social, and recreational activities aligned with NDIS goals.
• Implement Behaviour Support Plans and trauma-informed, least-restrictive approaches.
• Support independent living skills such as budgeting, cooking, and personal hygiene.
• Contribute to development and review of individual support plans.
• Maintain a safe, clean living environment in line with WHS, NDIS, and infection control.
• Record incidents, restrictive practices, or near misses per NDS Quality & Safeguards.
• Follow emergency, first aid, and evacuation procedures.
• Uphold safeguarding, privacy, and confidentiality obligations.
• Complete daily progress notes, incident reports, medication charts, and logs.
• Report participant changes to Team Leader or Case Manager.
• Maintain rostered hours, handover, and professional boundaries.
• Work with Case Managers, Support Coordinators, Behaviour Support Practitioners, and external stakeholders.
• Participate in meetings, supervision, and training.
• Promote positive image of First Caring Australia and uphold values.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day care and supervision of participants within the residence.
• Support participants with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, transport, and medication support (as per training and policy).
• Encourage and assist participants to engage in community, social, and recreational activities aligned with their NDIS goals.
• Implement Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) and positive behaviour strategies, maintaining a trauma-informed and least-restrictive approach.
• Support participants in developing independent living skills, including budgeting, cooking, and personal hygiene.
• Contribute to the development and review of individual support plans based on participants’ needs, goals, abilities, and progress.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive living environment consistent with WHS, NDIS, and infection control guidelines.
• Record all incidents, restrictive practices, or near misses in line with the NDS Quality & Safeguards Commission requirements.
• Follow emergency, first aid, and evacuation procedures appropriately.
• Uphold all safeguarding, privacy, and confidentiality obligations.
• Complete accurate daily progress notes, incident reports, medication charts, and communication logs.
• Report participant changes, health concerns, or risks promptly to the Team Leader or Case Manager.
• Maintain compliance with rostered hours, shift handover documentation, and professional boundaries.
• Work collaboratively with Case Managers, Support Coordinators, Behaviour Support Practitioners, and external stakeholders.
• Participate in team meetings, supervision sessions, and training opportunities.
• Promote a positive and professional image of First Caring Australia and uphold its values in all interactions
