About The Position

The Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine is seeking a Research Development Manager – Research Projects with strong research administration experience and a practical understanding of the end-to-end research project lifecycle in a higher education or Australian research sector environment. Reporting to the Faculty Business Director, the position works closely with academic staff, the Associate Dean Research, Faculty leadership and central University teams to support research projects from early feasibility and funding development through to establishment, financial management, governance, reporting and delivery.

The Position Will
  • Support Faculty researchers to effectively manage their projects throughout the research project lifecycle, from funding opportunity review, proposal development and project establishment through to ethics, contracts, reporting and close-out requirements.
  • Provide practical research administration advice across funding rules, governance obligations, compliance requirements, budgets and deliverables.
  • Work with academic investigators, ORS, Finance, HR, Legal, Research Ethics and external partners to keep research projects coordinated, compliant and on track.
  • Contribute to research reporting, funding opportunity mapping, project monitoring and continuous improvement in Faculty research administration.
Requirements

The successful candidate will bring hands‑on research administration experience, ideally gained in a university, medical research institute, hospital research office or Australian research funding environment. This role will suit someone who understands how funded research projects move from idea to application, approval, establishment and delivery, and who can provide clear, practical support to researchers at each stage.

  • Brings solid research administration experience and a practical understanding of the end-to-end research project lifecycle, from pre‑award planning through to project set‑up, governance, reporting and close‑out.
  • Is proactive and organised, with the ability to keep timelines, budgets, milestones and competing priorities moving without losing sight of the detail.
  • Works collaboratively across academic and professional teams, building trust with researchers, central University teams and external partners.
  • Communicates clearly and confidently, turning funding, compliance and project requirements into practical advice that helps researchers progress their work.
Salary details

The salary for the position commences at $99,108 per annum, plus 12% superannuation.

Please note: The fixed term of this employment contract will be for an initial 12 months. The prospect of extension will be discussed at the end of the contract term.
