Job summary

Department of Government Services in Victoria is seeking a Rent Assessment Officer to evaluate rent increase requests and respond to renters with guidance on legality and calculation accuracy.

You will work with Consumer Affairs Victoria to review notices, provide information on rights and obligations, and escalate breaches when required. Positions highlight frontline service and regulatory compliance responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Experience in regulatory, compliance, enforcement or legislative environments is highly regarded.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, compliance frameworks or regulatory policies.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and respond to renter requests to investigate proposed rent increases according to legislation and guidelines.
• Contact parties by phone in the first instance and liaise with CAV and other agencies as appropriate.
• Provide information about renters' rights and obligations to encourage compliance.
• Work autonomously with a high-quality service mindset and manage workload efficiently.
• Support frontline duties including inbound calls or other frontline functions as needed.
