Job summary

Ajax Engineering is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our Adelaide-based consultancy. This full-time, work-from-home role focuses on residential projects with occasional small commercial and industrial work, including warehouses.

You will collaborate with the Senior Structural Engineer and engineers across disciplines, performing designs, site inspections and documentation. Based in Adelaide or surrounding areas, you will travel to sites twice weekly and develop solutions, reports and

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
Minimum 2 years of relevant structural engineering experience in Australia.
Experience undertaking structural site inspections and preparing inspection reports.
Good understanding of Australian Standards and the National Construction Code.
Experience in structural steel and timber design.
Ability to undertake structural calculations and prepare engineering documentation with an appropriate level of independence.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Good communication skills and the ability to manage workloads and deadlines.
Based in Adelaide or surrounding areas, with a valid driver's licence.

Responsibilities

Structural design of residential buildings, including steel and timber beams, lintels, columns, connections and other structural elements.
Assist with structural design for small commercial and industrial buildings, including warehouses, steel framing and bracing systems.
Undertake structural site inspections, including footing reinforcement, structural framing and other construction inspections.
Identify construction issues, prepare inspection reports and provide practical engineering advice to builders.
Design retaining walls, footings and other structural components as required.
Prepare and review structural calculations and drawings, with checking responsibilities appropriate to experience and competency.
Respond to builder queries, RFIs and construction-related issues.
Liaise with clients, builders, architects and other engineering disciplines.
Work closely with Senior Structural Engineer to resolve technical challenges and develop engineering solutions.
