Job summary

5QS is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer for our Newcastle/Central Coast Office. The role emphasizes design of residential structures, project management from engagement to construction, and clear documentation in line with Australian standards.

Requirements include 5–8 years local residential experience, a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours, and strong communication skills. AutoCAD and Revit skills are preferred; driving license is a plus. Fieldwork may be required occasionally.

Qualifications

• Approximately 5–8 years local experience in structural engineering.
• Bachelor of Engineering with Honours from an Australian University.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the structural design of residential homes for large building companies.
• Manage smaller client projects from start to finish including client engagement, scope of services and estimates.
• Design solutions within client scope and budget, provide documentation, and oversee construction stage inspections.
• Present calculations and documentation clearly; liaise with clients, builders, councils and planners.
• Occasional fieldwork for investigations and inspections.
