Job summary

Alignerr is seeking experienced Structural/Civil engineers in Australia to design, create and evaluate AI training tasks rooted in real-world structural engineering challenges. Your knowledge of OpenSees and standards such as AS 3600/4100, Eurocode, ACI 318, and AISC is essential to advancing AI in structural engineering.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or closely related field (BE required; ME or PhD is a plus).
• Applied experience in structural analysis and design using codes in practice.
• Familiarity with OpenSees and structural design standards such as AS 3600/AS 4100, Eurocode, ACI 318, and AISC.

Responsibilities

• Design AI training tasks based on real structural engineering problems—spanning analysis, design, simulation, and code compliance.
• Write clear, precise problem statements that test an AI model's ability to reason about structural behavior.
• Develop deterministic scoring checkers and reference solutions for each task.
• Draw on experience with OpenSees to build realistic, well-scoped tasks.
• Create tasks covering areas like pushover analysis, seismic design, FEA modeling, reinforced concrete design, steel connection detailing, and retrofit.
• Evaluate AI-generated responses for technical accuracy, engineering soundness, and adherence to relevant standards (AS 3600, AS 4100, Eurocode, ACI 318, AISC).
• Provide structured, expert feedback that helps improve AI performance in structural engineering domain.
• Work independently and asynchronously—fully on your own schedule.
