Job summary

BackTrack Youth Works in Armidale, NSW, is creating a Staff Wellbeing Mental Health Practitioner role to support our staff. This remote position focuses on everyday wellbeing, confidentiality, and managing vicarious trauma for teams across Central NSW.

You will provide quick, practical wellbeing support, respond to critical incidents, and design short trainings to build manager capability. The role offers full‑time/part‑time options and employees with travel to central sites.

Qualifications

• Qualification and current registration in a mental health discipline.
• Minimum three years post-qualification experience.
• Experience with trauma-exposed, high-stress settings.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle duty of care.
• Experience designing and delivering short training sessions.
• Comfort providing support in everyday interactions, not only in office.
• Ability to work independently with sound judgement.
• Willingness to obtain Working with Children Check and National Police Check.
• Funding certainty for three years, leading to full‑time in Year 3.

Responsibilities

• Provide confidential, short‑term wellbeing support woven into daily work.
• Respond to critical incidents and facilitate debriefs after high‑intensity shifts.
• Design and deliver practical training to build staff capability on trauma exposure.
• Help staff establish healthy professional boundaries with young people.
• Coach managers to look after their teams in partnership with HR.
• Champion a proactive wellbeing culture and model healthy work practices.
• Maintain trusted referral pathways to the EAP and external services.
