Job summary

The Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section) is seeking a Medical Administration Officer to support primary healthcare services for the Ngarnal Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service on Mornington Island. Based at Mount Isa, you will help deliver integrated care and culturally safe services with the NACCHS and RFDS team.

This is a full-time, 12-month contract reporting to the Practice Manager.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in medical administration or healthcare settings.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• High level of attention to detail and organisational ability.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to delivering exceptional patient service.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day clinic administration activities.
• Maintain and update patient records within Best Practice and other clinical systems.
• Process referrals, correspondence, pathology results and discharge summaries.
• Monitor and manage clinic email inboxes and support clinician follow-up requirements.
• Coordinate patient information requests and manage incoming/outgoing correspondence.
• Scan, import and accurately categorise documents within medical records.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy at all times.
• Support clinicians with administrative tasks, including recalls and patient communications.
• Assist with quality improvement activities and clinical governance requirements.
• Work collaboratively with the Ngarnal team to support efficient clinic operations.
