Job summary

Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland) (RFDS) invites a Medical Officer – Aeromedical for a 12-month, part-time FIFO role. You will support state-wide network operations from Brisbane, including retrievals and pre-hospital care using mobile ICU-equipped aircraft.

You should have AHPRA registration, fellowships (ACEM/ACRM/ANZCA/CICM/RACGP), and at least 5 years post-graduate experience, with readiness for MTS training if stationed at Mt Isa.

Qualifications

• Registration with AHPRA as a Medical Practitioner.
• Fellowship of ACEM, ACRRM, ANZCA, CICM or RACGP (Senior Registrars are encouraged).
• Minimum 5 years of post-graduate experience.
• Experience in critical care medicine to meet credentialing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Retrieval Services Queensland (RSQ) emergency retrievals and inter-facility transfers.
• Liaise with RSQ, Duty Tasking Officers and facilities to coordinate aeromedical retrievals.
• Provide telehealth services to patients in remote locations.
• Conduct handovers to care providers and maintain medical records.
• Provide guidance to nurses and other health professionals.
• Participate in quality improvement activities and clinical audits.
