Job summary

Intrepid Travel is seeking an Executive Chef to lead our culinary operation at Bamurru Plains, a remote wilderness lodge three hours from Darwin. You will manage menu development, food preparation, and a small kitchen team to deliver a premium all-inclusive dining experience with local ingredients.

This full-time role emphasizes high standards of food quality, presentation, and service, while coordinating with lodge management to ensure exceptional guest experiences in a unique Australian

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior culinary leadership role.
• Executive/Head Chef or Sous Chef experience in premium hospitality.
• Strong knowledge of contemporary Australian cuisine.
• Experience developing menus and managing food costs.
• Proven ability to lead and motivate kitchen teams.
• Experience in remote or regional locations desirable.
• Attention to detail and presentation standards.
• Ability to work calmly under pressure while maintaining quality.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all kitchen operations including menu development and food preparation.
• Lead and inspire a small team of chefs and kitchen staff.
• Ensure food safety compliance, stock management and budget control.
• Collaborate with front‑of‑house and lodge management to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Deliver a premium all‑inclusive dining experience using local ingredients.
