Job summary

Mercor is seeking a Compensation & Equity Expert (Total Rewards) for a remote, contract-based engagement. The role focuses on building salary bands, leveling and job architecture, while owning the annual compensation cycle, merit planning, promotions, and bonus programs.

The ideal candidate will benchmark against peers, design simple incentive structures, and manage equity programs (options/RSUs) with grant guidelines and pool planning.

Qualifications

• Depth in compensation design & architecture
• Experience with equity program management
• Experience in compensation philosophy and benchmarking

Responsibilities

• Build salary bands, leveling frameworks, and job architecture from the ground up.
• Own an annual compensation cycle, including merit planning, promotion decisions, and bonus programs.
• Benchmark against a peer set and defend to an exec team.
• Design incentive structures that are simple, credible, and behavior-changing.
• Manage equity programs, including options and RSU programs, grant guidelines, and pool planning.
• Work through 409A valuations, plan governance, and grant administration at a venture-backed company.
