Job summary

TheDriveGroup is seeking an experienced Data Engineering Team Lead to own the data engineering capability and help shape the cloud data platform. Based in Brisbane or fully remote, you will lead the AWS-to-Azure transition and define architecture and engineering standards while staying hands-on with core data initiatives.

You'll drive design and delivery, mentor engineers and collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into robust technical solutions in a fast-growing technology

Qualifications

• Senior/Lead/Principal level data engineering experience.
• Strong Snowflake design, modeling and engineering.
• Azure data engineering with AWS exposure.
• Proven cloud data platform architecture and design experience.
• Strong SQL, Python and modern data pipeline development.
• Architectural decision making with hands-on delivery.
• Previous technical leadership and people management skills.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, architecture and development of scalable cloud data solutions.
• Own data platform with Snowflake central role.
• Architect and deliver AWS→Azure transition.
• Remain hands-on across data engineering, pipelines, and platform development.
• Establish engineering standards, best practices and scalable design patterns.
• Provide technical direction, mentoring to engineers.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust solutions.
• Balance ~70% hands-on delivery with 30% leadership and broader responsibilities.
