Job summary

UnitingCare Community is seeking a Child and Family Remote Support Worker based in Longreach to deliver mobile early childhood development and family support programs across rural and remote Queensland. You will travel to remote communities, build trusted relationships with families and local stakeholders, and provide evidence-based services to promote child wellbeing and development.

The role involves 60% travel/overnight stays in rural settings, working autonomously within a dedicated FaDS

Qualifications

• Hold a tertiary qualification, or be enrolled in Children’s Services, Community Services, Counselling or a related discipline.
• Experience working with children, families and communities in early childhood education, community services or a related field.
• Strong understanding of child development and family support practices.
• Experience facilitating programs, workshops or group activities.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• The ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously.
• A commitment to culturally safe and inclusive practice.
• Current Queensland driver’s licence
• Blue Card
• Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)

Responsibilities

• Support children and families to achieve positive outcomes.
• Deliver early childhood development and family support programs.
• Facilitate workshops, playgroups and community education activities.
• Build strong relationships with families, community organisations and First Nations communities.
• Travel throughout regional and remote Queensland as part of a mobile service delivery model.
• Work with a supportive team that values innovation, collaboration and continuous learning.
