Job summary

Better Health Company is seeking an Aboriginal Health Coach to deliver phone-based coaching and support across our programs nationwide. This role can be remote or onsite in Abbotsford, VIC, with flexible hours including some evenings to fit program schedules.

The position is Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified; candidates must be willing to obtain WWCC and a police check. Training and ongoing professional development are provided to ensure culturally safe services.

Qualifications

• Aboriginal/ Torres Strait Islander identified position; genuine occupational requirement.
• Qualification in a health field (e.g., Bachelor of Nutrition, Exercise Science, Nursing, Health Promotion or Cert IV in Aboriginal/ Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care).
• Ability to build strong relationships with diverse people.
• Works well independently and in a team.
• Willingness to obtain Working with Children Check (WWCC) and a police check.

Responsibilities

• Deliver phone-based health coaching and support services across programs.
• Provide practical health guidance on healthy eating, physical activity, and screen-time reduction.
• Assist families to set small achievable goals and sustain positive changes.
• Build relationships with communities and stakeholders to support program delivery.
• Contribute to staff training to ensure cultural safety and relevance for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal staff.
• Support data follow-ups, entry, and promotional activities.
• Participate in training and quality improvement to grow skills.
• Create and adapt culturally safe resources for Aboriginal families.
