The reliability and test engineer is responsible for environmental testing , reliability characterisation, and other V&V test activities that result in product or process improvements, you will be making a key contribution to optimizing our designs for manufacturability and reliability.

The role has responsibilities such as:

  • Determining appropriate reliability testing requirements for products; review product requirement specifications to develop sub-assembly or system-level test plans.
  • Developing and executing to our schedules for Reliability and V&V testing of products. Testing for reliability includes regulatory pre-compliance and lifetime, including transportation – drop, shock, and vibration, long-term operating life, (HALT and HTOL – high temperature high humidity), thermal cycling, mechanical wear-out tests, etc.
  • Taking ownership of test processes: creating test protocols, setup of test apparatus, execution of tests, analysis of data, and preparation of technical reports.
  • Applying Root Cause Analysis, FMEA, or other statistical methods to identify failure patterns and assist in the elimination of defects.
  • Coordinating with external test bodies for regulatory compliance.
  • Developing test fixtures including Electro- and Opto- mechanical elements.
  • Troubleshooting of problems with units under test or with the test tools – software, fixtures, and instrumentation.

  • Good oral and written communication skills; can work both independently, and with other cross-functional team members, external test-houses, and regulatory bodies.
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience in the testing of complex mechanical and electronic systems in a reliability driven environment, such as product testing, qualification, or development.
  • Working knowledge of materials science (composite materials, elasticity of solids, thermal expansion coefficient, thermal conductivity).
  • Experience with adhesive bonding (e.g. epoxy, silicone).
  • Literacy with Solidworks 3D and can read drawings of opto- and electro- mechanical systems.
  • Optics or Medical device experience.
  • Knowledge of LabVIEW or Python programming for control and automated data acquisition.
