Job summary

Interrelate is seeking an experienced Relationship Counsellor in Gosford for a fixed-term, part-time contract until 30 June 2027. The role involves counselling individuals, couples and families, case management, and delivering group programs.

You will work 60 hours per fortnight, with days and times as specified, and be remunerated at SCHADS Award level 5, around $57.72 per hour plus superannuation. A bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in counselling, social work, psychology or related discipline; or a Graduate diploma in counselling in addition to a bachelor’s degree that is not a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience delivering counselling services to individuals, couples, families and children.
• Experience with case work, case plans, and data collection.
• Ability to facilitate groups, seminars, and workshops.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We have an opportunity for an experienced Relationship Counsellor to provide counselling services to families, couples, and individuals including children for the purpose of improving capacity to engage in healthy and respectful relationships. The role will also involve case management, case coordination with internal and external stakeholders, and the delivery of group programs, seminars, and workshops as needed.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in the use of various relevant counselling modalities.

Location: Gosford

Employment Type: Fixed term Part-time contract until 30 June 2027

Hours of Work: 60 hours per fortnight

Days of Work: Monday (12pm to 8pm), Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday

Hourly Rate: In line with a SCHADS Award level 5 position, $57.72 per hour, plus superannuation

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in counselling, social work, psychology or related discipline; or a Graduate diploma in counselling in addition to a bachelor’s degree that is not a related discipline.

Demonstrated experience and skills in:

• delivering counselling services to the following - individuals, couples, families and children
• case work with clients, implementing and supporting case plans
• facilitating groups, seminars, and workshops
• interpersonal and communication skills
• report writing, case notes, data collection, and data entry

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of:

• the process and purpose of child inclusive practice
• the issues facing diverse communities, including First Nations, CALD, LGBTQIA+ and remote communities
• the impact of family separation and breakdown on children, and having skills in managing high parental conflict whilst upholding the best interests of children
• child development, child protection, mandatory reporting, suicide prevention/intervention, and family violence issues
• trauma informed principles
• community services, especially those relating to families experiencing relationship difficulties
• the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act, and other relevant legislation
