Job summary

Sydney Local Health District Virtual Hospital, known as Sydney Virtual, is seeking a Registered Nurse for Virtual Urgent Care. You will assess and triage patients via video/phone, coordinate reviews, deliver nurse-led care and discharge planning in a fast-paced virtual setting.

Permanent roles available: full-time 38 hours/week or part-time minimum 16 hours/week, with benefits including annual leave loading, superannuation, and education programs.

Qualifications

• Current nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
• Understanding of evidence informed practice and critical thinking.
• Effective interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication within a multidisciplinary team.
• Evidence of participation in own professional development and willingness to share expertise.
• Experience in Emergency Department is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely assessment and triage of patients via video and telephone consultations.
• Coordinate medical reviews and discharge planning.
• Deliver nurse-led care and patient education.

About The Role

Sydney Local Health District Virtual Hospital, known as Sydney Virtual, is the first virtual hospital in Australia. Our team of doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals support our patients 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Sydney Virtual provides patients with care when and where they need it. Our services are delivered through the Virtual Care Centre, Sydney District Nursing and Integrated Chronic Care.

As a Registered Nurse in Virtual Urgent Care, you will provide timely assessment and triage of patients via video and telephone consultations. Working in a fast-paced virtual environment, you will coordinate medical reviews, deliver nurse-led care and discharge planning, provide patient education, and facilitate referrals to appropriate services. This role requires strong clinical assessment skills, excellent communication, and the ability to make sound decisions while managing multiple patient presentations.
