Job summary

Sydney Local Health District (RPAH) is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide patient-centered, evidence-informed care for post-surgical patients at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. You will educate patients, coordinate care and work within a fast-paced nursing team on a rotating roster.

Current AHPRA registration, commitment to professional development and the ability to work across a 7-day roster are essential. This category A NSW Health position offers leave loading and salary packaging options.

Qualifications

• Current nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
• Understanding of evidence informed practice and critical thinking.
• Evidence of participation in own professional development and commitment to maintaining competence and enhancement of skills.

Responsibilities

• Care of the post-surgical patient.
• Educate patients on drains and catheters in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Coordinate and reprioritise patient care for better outcomes during shifts.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care with the multidisciplinary team.

About The Role

Formed in 1882, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH) is a major metropolitan tertiary referral hospital and a principal provider of specialist healthcare. It remains one of the nation’s most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities. In this role the daily work will include care of the post-surgical patient, education provision to patients on how to manage their drains and catheters in both the inpatient and outpatient environment, providing care and compassion to those who have experienced major life changes through the surgeries performed, coordinating and re-prioritising patient care for better outcomes multiple times throughout a shift and working in a fast-paced nursing team. The Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of patient centred; evidence informed nursing care that promotes identified health outcomes. The Registered Nurse will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in collaboration with individuals and the multidisciplinary healthcare team. Ideal Candidate

• Current nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).

• Ability to work a 7 day rotating roster.
