Job summary

Serco is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the ACT Health Centre, delivering high quality primary healthcare to Defence personnel within a multidisciplinary team. The role supports injury recovery and preventive care in a civilian capacity, with a focus on patient-centred care.

Standard hours are 0800-1600, Monday to Friday, with potential weekend/on-call shifts depending on role requirements. On-base healthcare delivery and a supportive work environment are provided.

Qualifications

• Unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Minimum one year Registered Nurse experience in acute care, primary health care or military setting.
• Current CPR certification (HLTAID009).
• Australian Citizenship required (Baseline Security Clearance).
• Commitment to CPD and ethical, patient centred care.
• Ability to work a 24/7 roster.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high quality primary healthcare, including health assessments and vaccinations or monitor and manage patients in a low dependency ward setting.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including GPs, physios, mental health clinicians, and dental professionals.
• Support Defence members through injury recovery, chronic condition management, and preventative care.

About The ACT Health Centre

Home to the Department of Defence Headquarters, Airforce Headquarters and Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) which is a tri-service military academy. The Health Centre opened mid-2022 and is a large facility. It services approximately 7000 military personnel, including trainee officers from both ADFA and Royal Military College. There is a 24-bed low dependency ward which operates 24/7. Services provided include primary medical, aviation & underwater medical, nursing, dental, mental health, pharmaceutical and physiotherapy. Defence Force Recruitment for medical officers is in addition to health centre roles. Standard hours of operation are generally 0800-1600 Monday to Friday (depending on role requirements and specific craft groups required for weekend and on-call shifts).
