Job summary

Neami National is seeking a Part-Time Registered Nurse for the Northern Melbourne Psychosocial Support Service. The role focuses on community-based, person-centred care for individuals with complex mental and physical health needs, delivering assessments, care planning and clinical interventions.

You will work autonomously in the community, coordinating with peers and a multidisciplinary team to support recovery and participation in care, while contributing to quality and safety improvements.

Qualifications

• Formal nursing qualification with current registration in Australia.
• Ability to work autonomously in community and clinical settings.
• Experience in a multi-disciplinary team and trauma-informed care knowledge.

Job description

• Part-Time (0.6 FTE), Maximum Term Contract - Maternity Leave Cover until 30 June 2027
• Classification: Registered Nurse Level2,with salary range of $104,826 - $110,122 per annumpro rata + Superannuation

About your new role

As a Registered Nurse within the Northern Melbourne Psychosocial Support Service (NPSS), you will provide person-centred nursing care to consumers with complex mental and physical health needs, supporting their wellbeing and recovery across community and clinical settings.

Working autonomously in the community, you will deliver assessments, care planning, and clinical interventions, integrating therapeutic engagement, health education, and trauma-informed, culturally safe practice. You will work collaboratively alongside Peer Workers and the multidisciplinary team to provide holistic, recovery-oriented support and help consumers actively participate in their care.

You will also contribute to service quality, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What you will bring to the role

• Formal tertiary qualifications in Nursing
• Current full registration as an Enrolled Nurse/Registered Nurse/Nurse Practitioner with current annual practicing certificate from the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
• Ability to maintain professional boundaries, demonstrate empathy and build trust.
• Strong emotional resilience including the ability to sit with discomfort, distress and people in crisis.
• Ability to work autonomously, manage competing demands and exercise sound judgement.
• Experience in working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team with the ability to inspire and facilitate team commitment and cooperation.
• Ability to adapt communication style to meet the needs of a diverse range of people and identify changing needs within a group.
• Knowledge of trauma informed care.
• Strong computer literacy and written communication skills.

Desirable

• Demonstrated experience in a community and/or clinical setting.
• Demonstrated experience in mental health nursing practice.
• Completed a post graduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing.
