Job summary

The George Centre in Sydney, NSW, is seeking Permanent Full Time or Part Time Registered Midwives for our Birthing Suites and Post Natal Ward. You will provide evidence-based midwifery care, plan and evaluate care in collaboration with women and families, and supervise junior staff.

Applicants must have midwifery/nursing qualifications with current AHPRA registration, acute care experience, excellent communication and organisational skills, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Relevant Midwifery/Nursing Qualification and current AHPRA Registration
• Recent Midwifery/Nursing experience in an acute care setting
• Outstanding communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
• Strong organisational skills
• Demonstrated risk management and WHS
• Ability to review and implement continuous improvement programs
• Ability to work a 7-day rotating roster

Responsibilities

• Provide high standards of evidence-based midwifery care to women of varying ages and cultural groups.
• Plan, assess, implement, and evaluate midwifery care in collaboration with women, newborns, their families, and the multidisciplinary team to achieve identified goals and health outcomes.
• Supervise, direct, guide junior midwives and undergraduate students in provision of care.
• Work collaboratively with the wider healthcare team to support patient care needs.
• Understanding of the National Safety and Quality Health Service standards
• The ability to work both independently and within a team structure.
• The ability to always act in a professional manner.
