Pybar Mining Services Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Regional Operations Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership across multiple underground mining projects. You will coach Project Managers, drive safer, more productive and profitable contract delivery, and build strong client partnerships while ensuring regulatory compliance.

PYBAR – a Thiess Company, is a mining services provider with core competencies in underground hard rock mining. We deliver a range of projects, from large established mining operations to greenfield developments across Australia. The services we provide range from mine development, production, cable bolting and drilling, raise boring, shotcreting and fleet.

THE OPPORTUNITY

PYBAR is seeking an experienced Regional Operations Manager reporting to the General Manager, to join our Senior Leadership Team and provide strategic and operational leadership across multiple underground mining operations.

This is a senior and influential leadership role, working closely with Project Managers, Site Leaders and the broader Senior Leadership Team to deliver outstanding safety, operational and commercial performance across our projects.

The successful candidate can be based anywhere in Australia, provided they have convenient access to an airport and the flexibility to travel regularly to our operations.

You will play a key role in driving operational excellence, developing our leaders, strengthening client partnerships and ensuring PYBAR continues to deliver safe, productive and commercially successful outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight across multiple underground mining projects, ensuring safe, efficient and profitable contract delivery.
• Lead, coach and develop Project Managers and senior site leaders, building high-performing, accountable and capable leadership teams.
• Drive consistent operational standards and continuous improvement across projects, identifying opportunities to improve safety, productivity, cost performance and profitability.
• Partner with Project Managers on operational plans, budgets, forecasts, workforce requirements and resource strategies to achieve business and contractual objectives.
• Monitor project performance using key safety, operational and commercial metrics, proactively addressing risks and performance challenges.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders, supporting successful contract delivery, long-term partnerships and future growth opportunities.
• Ensure operations comply with statutory requirements, mining regulations, contractual obligations, company standards and relevant policies and procedures.
• Provide visible safety leadership and promote proactive risk management and a strong culture of accountability across all operations.
• Champion PYBAR's values and support a consistent culture of safety, integrity, teamwork, accountability and innovation.
• Lead workforce and succession planning across the region, identifying critical capability requirements and developing strong leadership and talent pipelines.
• Support new project mobilisations, contract expansions and other growth opportunities, ensuring operational readiness and effective execution.
• Contribute as a member of the Senior Leadership Team to the development and execution of broader business strategy and organisational priorities.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED

• Extensive leadership experience within underground mining operations, ideally across multiple sites, projects or business units within a mining contractor or owner-operator environment.
• Demonstrated experience leading and developing Project Managers and senior operational leaders.
• Strong commercial acumen, including experience with budgets, forecasting, contract performance, cost management and profitability.
• A proven track record of delivering strong operational outcomes while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and regulatory compliance.
• Strong understanding of underground mining operations, project performance and the commercial drivers of contract mining.
• Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build credible and trusted relationships with clients, employees and senior leaders.
• Strong strategic thinking, judgement and decision-making capability, with the ability to balance immediate operational priorities with longer-term business objectives.
• The ability to influence across multiple operations and create consistency, accountability and continuous improvement within geographically dispersed teams.
• Flexibility to travel regularly to PYBAR operations across Australia.
