Job summary

Moree Plains Shire Council is seeking a dedicated Mechanic for the Depot Plant and Logistics division in Moree. You will diagnose faults, service light and heavy plant, and ensure equipment is safe and available to meet community needs.

You will manage preventative maintenance, fabricate parts when needed, and document work with run sheets and fuel reports while upholding safety and workshop discipline.

Qualifications

• Safety-conscious and team-oriented trade professional.
• Strong diagnostic capabilities and practical maintenance skills.
• Ability to meet maintenance targets and deadlines under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical faults and perform preventative maintenance across heavy plant.
• Machine pins and bushes and manufacture parts when required.
• Inspect and test plant and equipment for safety and roadworthiness.
• Complete accurate job cards, fuel reports and running sheets.
• Maintain workshop security and properly care for issued tools.
• Uphold environmental and safety controls in workshop facilities.

Education

Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology

Trade Certificate in Automotive Mechanics (Heavy Vehicle)

HR Drivers Licence

White Card (General Construction Induction)

Pre-employment medical

HC licence (Desirable)

ASCIS or HVAIS Examiner accreditation (Desirable)
