Job summary

Viking Rentals in Adelaide is seeking an Operations Manager to lead the South Australian operations, including the driver team, fleet of portable toilets and trucks. The role blends people management with practical tasks, from loading and unloading toilets to performing minor fixes.

You will ensure adequate drivers and inventory, coordinate with head office on recruitment and training, and maintain a smoothly run yard in all weather conditions.

Job description

We're looking for a hands-on Operations Manager to take overall responsibility for our South Australian operations, including our driver team, fleet of portable toilets and trucks. This is a role for someone who's just as comfortable managing people as fixing & cleaning toilets, undertaking minor mechanical fixes as well as hopping in a truck when required.

You will be the person that keeps everything running, ensuring we have enough drivers on the road, enough toilets ready to go, enough chemicals and consumables in stock, and a yard that operates smoothly day to day.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Planning

Overall responsibility for SA operations and the day-to-day running of the yard

Ensure driver numbers match truck requirements

Ensure sufficient number of toilets are fixed and cleaned for delivery

Monitor and manage stock levels of chemicals, toilet paper, and other consumables, coordinating with head office

Work with head office on driver recruitment

Conduct driver interviews and manage selection

Oversee driver recruitment and training

Manage drivers at the start of each day and resolve issues as they arise

Be the first contact for drivers throughout the day

Hands-On Support

Assist drivers with loading and unloading toilets

Jump in a truck when drivers are absent or there is a shortfall

Fix and clean toilets

Ensure trucks remain clean

About You

Experience in operations and team management

A practical, hands-on approach - you're willing to get in and do the job alongside your team

Strong people management skills, including managing, training and day-to-day supervision of drivers

Good organisational skills and the ability to plan ahead

Mechanically minded, or willing to learn basic maintenance tasks

Comfortable working in an outdoor, physical role
