Aurizon is seeking a Regional Maintenance Superintendent Locomotives based at the Jilalan depot. Lead a critical maintenance operation ensuring safe, reliable locomotive performance across the network.

You will drive a safety-centric culture, coach leaders, manage budgets, and deliver high-standard maintenance outcomes with accountability. You will develop teams, apply continuous improvement, and influence operational strategy while collaborating with stakeholders to meet customer expectations

Qualifications

• Strong leadership experience in maintenance operations.
• Knowledge of rail maintenance, safety, and reliability processes.
• Relevant trade or tertiary qualifications.
• Safety management skills incl. incident investigation and L1-L2 coaching.
• Ability to implement systems to achieve KPIs.
• Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and coaching capability.
• Proven commercial acumen and budget management.

Regional Maintenance Superintendent Locomotives

Based at Aurizon’s Jilalan depot, this is an opportunity to lead a critical maintenance operation that supports safe, reliable and efficient locomotive performance across the network. Working through your maintenance leadership team, you will provide clear direction, drive operational discipline and ensure maintenance outcomes are delivered to a high standard, with safety at the centre of everything you do.

About the role

• Champion a safety culture which promotes, creates and maintains a Zero Harm approach in all aspects of the operation.
• Provide leadership and coaching to Leaders to achieve customer expectations through a result driven, customer focused and commercial culture.
• Provide coaching, expert advice, and support to leaders to achieve performance objectives, promote high performance teams, support continuous improvement activities, develop potential successors and influence operational strategy.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and collaboration.
• Apply conceptual and analytical skills and utilise key performance indicators to optimise delivery of services on time and in full.
• Manage financial and operational budgets, resources, on time performance and safety.
• Ensure performance is measured and meets or exceeds business requirements.
• Ensure the allocated team has up to date training and competency
• Build positive workplace relationships with all stakeholders.
• Take accountability and ownership in all aspects of your team.
• Ensure all activities delivered through the team are compliant with relevant industry and business standard

• Extensive knowledge of operations, preferably rail industry.
• Knowledge of contemporary maintenance, supply chain and reliability processes.
• Relevant trade or tertiary qualifications commensurate with the role
• Well-developed Safety management skills and knowledge including incident investigation, safety interactions, near miss reporting and behaviour based safety leadership.
• Effective operational management and leadership skills with a proven capability to develop and implement relevant systems to achieve relevant key performance indicators.
• Ability to effectively engage team members, establish and sustain relationships, set clear direction and provide coaching.
• Demonstrated customer relationship management skills.
• Demonstrated commercial acumen
