Job summary

Geoscience Australia seeks a Geoscientist to contribute to regional-scale geoscience investigations in the Georgetown–Julia Creek region. Working with a multidisciplinary team, you will compile, acquire, synthesise and interpret geoscientific data to build a baseline understanding of geology and resource potential.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in geoscience or related field.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams with strong communication.
• Capability to work independently with limited direction.
• Experience in structural/economic geology, basin analysis, hydrogeology, geology, or geophysical interpretation.
• Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive culture in the team.

Responsibilities

• Compile and interpret geoscientific data to inform regional geology and resource potential assessments.
• Collaborate with geologists, hydrogeologists, geophysicists and other specialists to develop new geological knowledge.
• Support planning and delivery of data acquisition activities, including GIS support and data management.
• Assist with land access negotiations, cultural heritage clearances and field activities as required.
• Prepare and communicate scientific findings through maps, datasets, reports and presentations.
• Engage with industry, government and academic stakeholders for collaboration.
