Job summary

Geoscience Australia is seeking a Geoscientist (Mineral Potential) to develop predictive mineral potential mapping by integrating multidisciplinary datasets and producing high-quality outputs for decision-makers in industry and government.

The role contributes to Australia’s resource sector and energy transition, working within a section focused on predictive national maps for critical minerals. You will operate under limited direction in a collaborative project team.

Qualifications

  • A tertiary qualification in geoscience or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with GIS software for data manipulation and spatial analysis.
  • Experience interpreting geological and geochemical information.

Responsibilities

  • Develop mappable spatial proxies of mineral system processes for potential assessments.
  • Read, extract and summarise key geological information from reports to support understanding of mineral systems.
  • Provide GIS support, including managing, processing and visualising geoscientific data.
  • Coordinate data collection, analysis and quality assurance of geoscientific data.
  • Prepare technical documentation, spatial layers and visualisations communicating findings to audiences.
  • Collaborate within the project team and contribute to a safe, inclusive team culture.
