Job summary

Archer Daniels Midland Company is seeking an experienced Regional Functional Safety Engineer to lead and strengthen our Functional Safety program across multiple facilities in the region. The role requires deep technical expertise, leadership, and strong stakeholder management to embed safety throughout the lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Controls, Chemical, Mechanical or related discipline.
• CFSE and/or CFSA certification preferred.
• Significant experience with SIS and Functional Safety in operating facilities.
• Strong understanding of Process Safety and its relationship to Functional Safety.
• Experience across FS lifecycle: SRS development, SIL verification, MOC, incident investigations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and ongoing development of the Functional Safety program across the region, coordinating site activities and resources.
• Sustain the Functional Safety Lifecycle with robust processes and governance across facilities.
• Provide expert guidance on Functional Safety and SIS to Operations, EHS and engineering teams.
• Collaborate with regional Process Control & Automation, Reliability & Maintenance and Total Process Safety teams.
• Ensure training, competency and professional certification for FS requirements.
• Lead regional/site management reviews and drive governance improvements.
• Work with Total Process Safety Center to improve FS processes, tools and standards.
• Interpret and apply IEC 61511, IEC 62443 and IEC 61508.
• Lead FS lifecycle activities: SRS, SIL verification, MOC and incident investigations.
• Facilitate Hazard & Risk Assessments and integrate FS with Process Safety & EHS.
