Job summary

Parks Victoria is seeking a Ranger to join Kinglake National Park, delivering a diverse program for the community and environment. This 0.4 FTE role fits around other commitments and focuses on protecting park values while enabling visitor experiences.

You will work with a new Ranger team to uphold safety, inclusivity, and policy alignment, engaging with colleagues and stakeholders across the park.

About the role

Our Rangers are key to Parks Victoria providing exceptional experiences for visitors to Victoria's parks andreserves. As a Ranger, you are responsible for the management of Parks Victoria's estate,consistent with organisational priorities, policies and procedures, ensuring that people can enjoy theoutdoors and protecting the things that make our parks and reserves so special.This unique 0.4FTE role offers the chance to get in on the action and support our Ranger team at Kinglake, while fitting around other priorities in your life.

About the Team

We are a small and newly formed Ranger team with a wide range of experience that is focused on building a supportive and proactive culture to deliver on Parks Victoria's priorities. The successful applicant in this role will learn alongside the rest of us and have real input into shaping our culture.

We're looking for someone with:

• Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal communication, including the ability to explainconcepts to people of different backgrounds and to engage constructively with colleagues and
  stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, and contribute to a safe, respectful, and inclusiveteam environment.
• Demonstrated ability to use professional judgement, experience and initiative to resolveoperational issues and realise opportunities to achieve better outcomes within establishedguidelines.
• Desirable skills/experience - one of: business/public service administration; community stakeholder engagement and education; or environmental management (invasive flora and fauna).
