Job summary

Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority in Port Campbell VIC is seeking a hands-on Ranger to protect and manage our parks, reserves and coastal landscapes while delivering safe, memorable experiences for visitors.

As part of the National Parks Team you will undertake land management, conservation, visitor services and infrastructure projects across the Great Ocean Road region, and engage with Traditional Owners and communities.

Qualifications

• Qualifications, skills or experience in environmental science, conservation and land management, natural resource management, outdoor education, community engagement, carpentry or a relevant trade.
• Experience delivering on-ground services, projects or operational activities as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Sound judgement, initiative and problem-solving abilities.
• A commitment to workplace safety, teamwork and continuous improvement.
• A professional, reliable and accountable approach to your work.
• A current Victorian Drivers License.

Responsibilities

• Deliver on-ground land, conservation and visitor management services across GORCAPA's parks and reserves.
• Assist with conservation programs, including pest plant and animal control, habitat protection and threatened species initiatives.
• Support the maintenance and improvement of visitor infrastructure, including walking tracks, roads, campgrounds and visitor facilities.
• Engage positively with park visitors, volunteers, Traditional Owners, community groups and commercial operators.
• Contribute to public safety, compliance and park management activities.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver projects and operational priorities.
• Participate in stakeholder engagement, community education and visitor information activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve service delivery and operational outcomes.
• Support emergency response and recovery activities, including fire management operations, where appropriately trained.

TheGreat Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority is responsible for protecting and managing one of Australia’s most iconic coastal landscapes. We care for parks, reserves and marine environments along the Great Ocean Road, including internationally recognised visitor sites. Working closely with Traditional Owners, communities and stakeholders, we protect environmental, cultural and heritage values while supporting sustainable visitation and long‑term conservation.

About the Role

As a Ranger in our National Parks Team, you'll play a hands‑on role in protecting and managing our parks, reserves and coastal landscapes while helping deliver safe, memorable experiences for visitors. Working as part of a dedicated team, you'll contribute to a diverse range of land management, conservation, visitor services and infrastructure projects across the Great Ocean Road region. What you’ll do
