Job summary

V/Line is seeking a hands-on Ganger to lead a team in maintaining rail infrastructure, ensuring safety and reliable operations on a designated track section. The role focuses on supervision, renewal activities and risk management to safeguard staff and customers.

Required are Cert III Rail Infrastructure (Ganger Ticket), Safe Working Certificate Level 3, and a current Driver’s Licence, with First Aid Level 2 as a plus. Strong leadership and rail familiarity are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Mandatory- Valid Current Driver’s License
• Mandatory - Cert 3 Rail Infrastructure (Ganger Ticket)
• Highly Desirable - Safe Working Certificate Level 3
• Highly Desirable - High Rail operator - level 4
• First Aid – Level 2 – may be required if designated First Aid Officer
• Site supervision and hands on leadership experience

Responsibilities

• Leading and overseeing the delivery of rail infrastructure maintenance and renewal activities.
• Supervising and actively participating in the renewal and replacement of track components.
• Coordinating maintenance and repair works across crossings, drainage systems, earthworks and other rail related structures and assets.
• Ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of an assigned section of track through effective planning, supervision and resource allocation.
• Conducting track inspections and monitoring infrastructure condition, including track geometry, rail wear, sleeper condition, fastening integrity, flooding risks and track defects.
