Job summary

Egis in Brisbane is seeking a Rail Software and Systems Engineer to design, develop, integrate, and validate software and control systems for rail operations, ensuring safety and reliability.

You will work across signalling, software, and safety-critical assurance, develop architectures and interfaces, test plans, and contribute to compliance with EN 50126/8/9 and IEC 61508, while collaborating with internal teams and external suppliers.

Qualifications

• In-depth experience integrating industrial rail systems with software.
• 3–5 years in a similar rail/industrial role is preferred.
• Experience with safety-critical lifecycle processes and standards.
• Proven ability to develop requirements, interfaces, and validation plans.
• Experience working with signalling equipment and control systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop system architectures for rail signalling, control, and operations.
• Design, implement, and test software components for signalling and monitoring.
• Integrate and maintain systems in operational environments.
• Contribute to safety cases and hazard analyses per EN 50126/8/9 and IEC 61508.
• Develop test plans including unit, integration, FAT/SAT, and on-track validation.
• Implement logging and diagnostics for predictive maintenance and analytics.
• Collaborate with signalling engineers, software teams, and suppliers.
• Produce requirements, design artefacts, and interface control documents.
