Job summary

Downer seeks a Shunting & Train Movement Manager to oversee safe planning, coordination and control of rolling stock movements at the Torbanlea facility. You will lead the shunting team, manage permits, and ensure compliance with rail safety laws and WHS requirements while coordinating with production, testing, and commissioning activities.

The role requires experience in rail operations, yard coordination, and strong leadership.

Qualifications

• Current Construction White Card.
• Current Driver's Licence.
• RIW requirements applicable to the role.
• QTMP/Downer site-specific training and authorisations.
• Permit Issuer / Permit-to-Work training and authorisation.
• Mandatory Units of Competency for yard coordination and torbanlea shunting (e.g., TLIC4074, TLIE0002, TLIE2007, TLIF0008, TLIF0020, TLIF0025, TLIF2010, TLIF3058, TLIF3085, TLIB0013, TLIE3021, TLIF2006, TLIF3087, TLIL4038, TLIW2041, TLIC0016).

Responsibilities

• Lead by example and promote a strong safety culture across shunting, train movement and yard activities.
• Oversee safety systems, permits and isolation within authority.
• Manage LOTO, Permit-to-Work, track protection and access-control.
• Ensure rail movements comply with procedures and SWMS.
• Monitor safety performance and address deficiencies.
• Stop unsafe movements and ensure corrective controls before resumption.
